Spas have become all the rage over the past few years, and not just for women.  You have spas in upscale hotels and many types of private clubs, often times being part of the main attraction of visiting that particular place.  However, to try and get into some of these spas is going to cost you a small fortune.  For example, there are people who will book the ‘spa experience’ through hotels that they are staying at, the package only including a deep tissue massage, a facial, and admission into the actual spa facility.  For this they have paid over $300!

If you are able to continuously pay this type of money for your spa experience, you definitely should.  However, if you are like most of the other men out there and would prefer to save that money to use on something else, here are some tips that you can use to create the perfect home spa day for yourself.

Create Your Perfect Emotional Oasis

The good thing about creating the perfect spa experience for yourself is going to be that you don’t have to be very rich in order to get the benefits of the spa.  With just a little bit of imagination, you can very easily create a very enjoyable spa experience right in your home.  

You may be wondering why men would want to create their own spa in their house.  The answer is going to be to promote their level of relaxation and reduce the amount of stress that they are feel in an all-natural way.  While you may be thinking that physical activity and exercise are also going to be very effective for getting rid of any anxiety that you may be feeling, having a spa in your home is simply going to be different.  In fact, home spas are actually going to work kind of like an emotional oasis that allows you to get away from the hectic and buy world that is your life.

If you are interested in creating an at-home spa oasis and need some ideas, here are some of the top ideas that you can use to create your perfect emotional oasis.

#1 – Use Scented Candles

Studies have found that men are going to respond the best to pine, chamomile and vanilla when it comes to scents that help to relax.  A popular scented candle company is going to be Yankee Candles, and they have scented candles in each of these scents as well as many other scents too.  And what makes Yankee Candles so convenient is that they are normally available at most retail outlets and online too.  

Once you have decided on which scented candles you are going to be using in your spa, be sure that you place the candle in a safe place.  For example, this may be putting your candle on a sink corner, asway from any towels.  Once you have your candled situated, you should light it approximately five minutes before you are going to enter into your home spa.  This will allow the candle to fill the room with the scent that you have selected when you do walk in.

#2 – Play Some Relaxing Music

Your spa experience is not going to be the same if you don’t have some type of relaxing music playing throughout the duration of your visit.  You may want to keep the music you play to an instrumental only, potentially listening to the harp or a guitar type of soundtrack.  Another good option is going to be to play some of the calming sounds of nature, such as a rain forest.  Depending upon the type of music that you enjoy listening too, you may want to consider ambient music.  No matter what type of music you decide to listen too, just remember that the entire goal of the music is going to be to help you relax and encourage tranquility.

The last thing that you want to happen is to have your relaxing home spa experience ruined by any type of intrusive noises that your phone may make while you are using it.  This can include texts, phone calls, emails, social media updates, etc.  If you really want to make sure that you are not interrupted when you are relaxing in your home spa, is to simply place your phone in another room or turn it off.  You know what they say, ‘out of sight, out of mind.’

#3 – Be Sure You Shower and Exfoliate

To really get the complete spa experience, you are going to want to make sure that you take a warm shower prior to running a hot bath.  This is going to be essential to make your spa experience as great as it can be.  This is because it will help to prep your skin for all of the treatments that are on their way to you.  Just keep in mind that your main goal here should be to destress yourself while you remove any dead skin cells from your body.  One of the best ways that you can do this is going to be to apply a higher-quality skin exfoliant.

Most of the high-quality scrubs are going to include natural activated charcoal.  This is because natural activated charcoal is going to help treat acne, stretch marks, scars, and even wrinkles.  On top of that, you can expect to walk away with some very smooth, polished looking skin.  A simple online search or visit to the skin store should allow you to find an exfoliate with natural activated charcoal.

After you get done exfoliating, you are going to want to rinse off with some type of moisturizing body wash.  Once your shower is over, you should be using a cotton towel and be pat drying yourself.  Once dry, slip into one of your most comfortable robes or whatever you feel the most comfortable in, even if that means wearing nothing.

#4 – Start with a Face Mask

#5 – Take a Hot Bath

The art of taking a bath has essentially been lost.  If you are like most people, you are more than likely all about those showers.  However, if your main goal is to relax and calm yourself, a nice hot bath is going to be something that you simply shouldn’t skip.

When preparing your bath, try to select a water temperature that is warming to your skin, making sure to not go too hot or too cold.  Many will argue that 92 degrees is going to be the ideal temperature for your bath, but it is completely up to you.  You may want to add a few drops of an essential oil to your bath water, as the scents are able to help you relax even more.  

Once in your bath, allow yourself to relax for 20-30 minutes, ideally not going much longer than that.  You don’t want your skin to get all wrinkled.
